LifeSTREAM Therapy LLC has provided training and consultation in the use of adventure and experiential based therapy for twenty-five years in addition to this private clinical practice work. I’ve worked with youth, families and adults for forty years. My pronouns are he / him. Who I am is an important consideration as we decide to work together. This doesn’t mean I can only work with folks exactly like me or with similar life experience. Nor that I believe I’m in some way “better than”.
I support folx in who they are in their time with me whether we are similar, BIPOC, Neurodivergent or LGBTQ+.
My awareness/perspective is part of what I bring to our time together and are essential to experiencing safety and connection. They also reflect awareness of my privileges in this culture.
I am:
A white, middle class, heterosexual, cis-gender male.
A baby boomer. Yes (creak, groan, wheeze) born before 1965. I lived in central KY from birth through my 20’s. Lived in the Pacific NW most of past 30 years.
Not in recovery from substance use disorders or compulsive behaviors. I do attend Al-Anon meetings as a family member.
Not someone who has experiences of childhood, complex, developmental trauma
Someone who struggles as an adult with ADHD
Someone who identifies as agnostic. I was baptized and raised in the Methodist Church in KY. I have great appreciation for the commonalities of Christianity, Islam, Buddhism and most faiths/religions.
Someone who identifies as progressive/liberal politically.
Someone who has done my own individual, couples and family therapy through the years. Therapists who have never “looked under the hood” are probably folks to steer clear of.
Most importantly I am experiencing the joy and occasional challenge of being a single, co-parent, as the biological father of twin young adults (female and male).
