Families with mental illness and/or addiction ask me to help fix problems; often to encourage a loved one into treatment, or to help the family gain health and recovery from the impact of illness. As a MSW Social Worker I’ve worked for forty years with individuals and families in settings ranging from inpatient psychiatry and dual diagnosis, to outpatient, both as a psychotherapist and also as a Life Coach. Growing up in a very loving yet very stressed family, my mission is to support families the way I wish my family could have been helped. I’m one of only twenty-two Certified Community Reinforcement And Family Training (CRAFT) Clinicians in the U.S.; and yes, Certification has greatly improved my effectiveness. I help families help a loved one recover from addiction, with a proven 70% success rate encouraging loved one into treatment. I’m a Quality Treatment Consultant, and also an Advocate for patients in residential treatment; because they need it. Including families improves treatment outcomes.
